  • 12/09/14--08:26: Spanning error while imaging
  • Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

    I am running a trial version of Ghost solution suite (Version 11.5.1.2266) I am trying to send an image to some PC's on our test net, which has an existing PXE server. Everything starts fine but before we get to 10% the client says it needs to open the second spanned image and I have to cancel the image. The recieving disk is 100 gig, the image file is our current win7 image imported from another server (Still runs fine there). The log files look like this:

            R:         ACK             TOK     SEQ=967 ACK=2148644735 WIN=57240 LEN=14 ADDR=130.85.82.123:7777

               RTT for 2148644725 is 8 ticks
               Retransmit timeout 32 = 9 + 4 * 4
               Recv would block

               S:         ACK                     SEQ=2148644735 ACK=981 WIN=57240 LEN=10 ADDR=[ALL]

     525732656 RML_recv failed: No Error

               S: RST                             SEQ=2148644745 ACK=991 WIN=0 LEN=0 ADDR=130.85.82.123:7777
               ConnectionState was 4, now 12
               State was 4, now 12

                       Retransmits on Request:          1
                       Retransmits on Timeout:        215
                           Zero Window Probes:         13

               End RML Statistics

               Shutting down RML
     525732859 RML shutdown

    I think the last part is me going and canceling the image at the client.

    I don't know where to check if spanning is enabled, but it shouldn't need to be.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello all,

    I haven't done in this in so long...I kind of forgot!

    Current setup:

    NS 7.5 SP1 HF2 with NBS and Task imaging and serving 2200 clients. PXE is leveraged by IP helper at the switch.

    Added a Site Server with Task and Package to take load off of the NS. Now, do I still retain Task Service on the NS or remove it and have Task completely handled by the new Site Server? Should NBS be handled by this new Site Server or let the NS continue to provide that? I see agents starting to communicate with this Site Server and some still communicate to the SMP.

    Also, the SMP and Site Server are in different subnets.

    I found the built in report for "Computers that have not reported inventory in last N days)" (Reports->All reports->Discovery and Inventory->Inventory->Cross-platform->Inventory Agent->Inventory Diagnostics), which works great.

    I need to be able to run something like this (machines that haven't checked in last 90 days), but I also need to include username.

    I've found some old threads on this (including one of mine and this one), but can't figure out how to get it work (I don't have asset management installed).  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Our current imaging process on 7.5.1 HF4 works fine for 5-8 PC's. After that the subsequent machines boot into automation and the pectagent sits idle. The deployment of the .gho image never happens. The only way to fix it is to delete the resource and retry the image again until it works. Does anyone know what could be causing this or where to check? We are gathering pectagent logs now. The other weird thing is the job will be running but when you click the details for it the history is gone. I have no idea why the history just disappears for some.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

    Not sure if this is the way it is supposed to be .... but I thought I'd clarify.  I have installed ServiceDesk 7.5 SP1 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 server.  When I launch Workflowm Manager and select Solution Center I only see three templates, (DLP vShield VM Quarantine, Mobile Geofencing, and Post Mobile Enrollment Process), all dated from July 2012.  Should I be seeing more templates, which would imply I have a network issue (perhaps) or is this the total number of templates available?  Is there a location in Workflow Manager to specify the location of the templates perhaps?

    Thanks

    Alex

  • 12/11/14--04:19: Missing processor class
  • Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

    Hello

    I have a problem with processor data gathering process. The issue concerns 15 machines (VMs) with OS Windows Server 2003. I can find missing data regarding CLN HW Processor.bak file:

           <data>

                  <resource>

    <row c6="9" />

                 </resource>

          </data>

    also CLN HW Processor Name Windows file is empty.

    Below you can find the steps I have already performed in order to fix the issue:

    • reinstall altiris agent
    • reinstall inventory plugin
    • install Microsoft Hotfix for Windows Server 2003 - KB932370
    • check WMI: Win32_Processor and Win32_ComputerSystem
    • agent logging (trace level enabled): I found the following messages:
      • The data class does not have condition specified
      • CXMLDOMNodePtr::GetAttributeValue() error

    Please could you give any hints in order to find source which causing this problem?

    I'm trying to make a Windows 7 image with DS 7.5 where, upon bootup, the local administrator account is *not* disabled.

    One catch: for reasons of simplicity and speeding up support, I have a GPO that renames the local administrator account to "ali". After capturing an image, then deploying the image to a PC, I try logging with ali and the password, and I get incorrect login or password. I try logging in with "administrator" and the password, and I'm told the account is disabled--sysprep obviously renamed the account back to "administrator".

    The article found at http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH185748&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1418313251565 lists, as a solution, to use their supplied unattend.xml, which has the following code. This didn't work; should I change "administrator" to "ali" here?

    <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Deployment" processorArchitecture="@ProcessArchitecture" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
                <RunSynchronous>
                    <RunSynchronousCommand wcm:action="add">
                        <Order>1</Order>
                        <Path>cmd /c net user administrator /active:yes</Path>
                        <Description>Enable Admin</Description>
                    </RunSynchronousCommand>
                </RunSynchronous>
            </component>

    Thanks!

    Hello all,

    I'm curious if anyone else has this issue.  My environment is mostly Windows but there are enough Macs to care about their status.  I'm only getting about 50% coverage for the assessment scan and patch tasks because these Macs are not all online all the time.  Is best practice to make this task run for 24 hours or is there some way to unhide the built in Mac tasks so they can be placed in a policy?

    What is everyone else doing about this?

    Thanks,

    Paul

    Non, je n'ai pas besoin d'une solution (je partage des informations seulement)

    Hi all,

    GSS 11.5.1.2266

    VMware NIC - VMXNET 3

    VMware Machine - vmx-09

    VMware VCenter Server - 5.5.0.147627

    I'm was trying to capture an image of a Windows 2012R2 Virtual Machine via the mounting of an ISO to the VM (as the OS client does not work due to it being unsupported), and started to post this query, but ended up figuring out the answer through a well time Google search. However, as I was part way through I thought I would continue and post the solution, just in case anyone else stumbled across this.

    The standard WinPE image drivers that are installed include the VMware.vxnet and vmware-nic drivers, however, on boot the WinPE does not recognise the NIC and so cannot connect.

    I did read elsewhere on here that you might be able to create a PCDOS image with 3COM drivers, but I haven't done anything like this in over 20 years so could not remember what to do. In the end, I Googled 'VMXNET 3 drivers' and came across the answer.

    On your VM (mine is a Windows 2012R2 server), check out the "Program Files\Common Files\VMware\Drivers\" folder. In here you should find the 'VMXNET 3' folder. Copy this to a location where you Ghost Boot Wizard can access. Go through the motions of modifying the WinPE image by pointing to and adding this driver (make sure you select the driver after adding it!), then wait as the Image is de and re-compressed.

    Now re-create you Boot ISOs using the modified WinPE image. Mount this ISO to the VM, reboot and away you go.

    Cheers

    Chris

    Hello all.

    I have a 7.5 environment just installed and I cant get any tasks to run once a machine boots into WINPE4. They do all work fine while in Windows.

    The one thing I have noticed is that in the Altiris console it picks the computer up with it's serial number (Instead of MININT) yet the hostname on the computer itself if you do an IPCONFIG /ALL is a MININT-....... name.

    Could it be the server is trying to push a job to the SERIAL NUMBER and not getting there as the client actually has a MININT name?

    Ive tried removing the computer from the console (Right click delete), boot it back into WINPE and wait for Altiris to discover it. Again in the console it comes up with it's SERIAL NUMBER yet in WINPE doign an IPCONFIG /ALL it says it has a MININT name.

    On the altiris server you cant ping the SERIAL NUMBER but you can ping the MININT name.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks

    Nick

    The patch is available in the Patch Remediation Center of SMP 7.1 but when I try to download it does 3 attempts and then fails. Tested the same from a separate environment completely (home lab) and the same thing happens.

    Recently set up a new Site Server with Task and Package services.

    I set up 2 sites:

    Site1: Contains the NS which has NBS and Task
    Subnet for this site contains only the Subnet IP for the NS and any PCs being imaged.

    Site2: Site Server which has Task and Package
    Subnet for this site contains all other subnets excluding the above site.

    Booting into preboot with a PC on the same subnet as Site1. Capture image task fails and DSTasks.log shows it is trying to reach out to the nearest package server in Site2.

    (The Exception have occured in Client Imaging Task.
        Exception has occured in File SMPPackage.cpp at Line No 225. Type of exception is GeneralError. Error is callDSPSInfoOperationService()have failed. Return XML is =. Error from HttpGet = HTTP status: 404 Not Found)

    How can I restrict any workstations in Site1's subnet to only hit the NS in that site?

    Hello Everyone,

          I have a PC with Symantec Ghost 11.5 on it and I would like to re install it on a server...  The problem is I do not have anything, lol.  The old IT Director is the one who installed it and he did not maintain any records on it. So how do I go about moving it?  Where can I get the installation media and where might I find the license file or serial number?  Please let me know any questions.

    Thanks

    We are experiencing an issue in CEM when attempting to add servers to the Symantec Management Platform Internet Gateway Manager application on the servers tab. When adding the servers we click Add Server and type in the FQDN of the Notification server and click OK. The blue bar at the top just scrolls and scrolls, never adds the server. I have tested the ports going from the gateway to the Notification server with telnet and do connect. Does anyone have suggestions on what to check for as to why when adding servers it just sits and never actually addes the server to the CEM gateway application/configuration. I have the policy configured in the console with the corect configuration, Gateways added with thumbprint.
