    WE had a series of issues with our package server creating blank records and then not deleteing those records or even records we delete out of the console.  The file bloat took some doing to get cleared.  Parts of this are based ont he post: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag... with much thanks to Symantec support and the article's editors.  I found for us it didn't complete the information eeded to actually clear all the file bloat and the database bloat. 

    As a quick overview, what I have going on now is every night I run the SQL query modified from above, change permissions on any new packages on all the site servers, then delete empty folders, then delete specific known "bad" or uneeded packages.  In my case these are tasks that are dumped into a job which runs at an interval.  That way the whole thing can be turned off or on without forgetting a piece and each section can be viewed for status.  The exception being the SQL query but I still run that from within the console so it can br grouped with the job.  

    So first create a the following SQL query task:

    Second run a quick command to change the permission so that adminstrators can delete folders in the package directories again.

    Third step is modified from some script online, source is quoted.  This simply finds only the package server folders with nothing in the cache folder. Also note the loggin directory, customize to your site.

    Finally a pretty basic script to delete known bad GUID's of packages etc.   But the part that's nice it is easy to add and delete from.  I found it nice for netboot folder structures that would not delete:

    If time ever allows I would like to create a token for install directory on the individual site servers as this is not very portable at this point, but for our site it works pretty well.  Hope this helps a bit.  Let me know any thoughts or questions!

    I have delete the Article List Display web part from our knowledge base page, but was meaning to delete a diffrent web part.  I have tryed having a look under web parts to add this back in but unable to see it any where.  I have also went onto our test server think i could just export the page and then import into the live page but it seems the knowledge base is the only page you can't export.  Does anyone have any ideas on how i could add this back in?

    Needing a specific version of Chrome to put in a patch policy. When I download an older version # of Chrome. I get the latest version of chrome. Is this by design? How do I get the older Chrome update I need?

    Auto updating for chrome is turned off in group policy. And the NOGOOGLEUPDATEING switch is added to the install command line.

    I downloaded a version of Chrome 36

     It shows up in the patch install log as the version I downloaded and put into a policy.

    We are trying to deploy software, but need to know if a version check can be done in the managed delivery.  Here is the scenario.

    We have an older version of the software installed and pointed to a soon to be defunct server.  We need the managed delivery to remove this software completely and install the new version pointing to the new server.  We will have to leave the task on for computers that are off the network, so we don't need it to continually run and computers that already have the new software.  Maybe an MD5 check where if it's this version don't run the task or something?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    This return all historic subtask created, but I can't see the  ProcessID to which it belong

    I tried to do a relationship between TaskHistory and Task but the query doesn't returned data and really I don't know what tables can I use

    On the SMP 7.5 console, there are 3 Windows Application Management policies that are disabled by default

    What is the best practice on using these? Is it advised to use them daily? Weekly? Monthly? As needed? What is the recommended target? From my understanding, running these can proactively decrease Windows Installer issues. Problem is I can find very little information on how to use them. I have found articles only on what they are used for. 

    Any and all information is greatly appreciated as I think these are overlooked more than they are used.

    Soooo looooong story short there are some tweaks that can be made to the rc.netboot file in the /etc folder of the netboot.dmg file in the netboot folder on the deployment server.    THrough a lot of testing I've modified the do_init() function with the following tasks to prove where the naming of the netboot image comes from.

    When I do that I always get the line Setting ComputerName to netboot001 (Now OSX will change this to "netboot001 (2)", "netboot001 (3)"... later in the process, but at this point in the boot process it's proof of the name I believe.)   Now having this improper name during boot can be problematic.  I am in the process of changing the name post boot, but ideally I would like the netboot server to hand out the correct name to begin with.   Since the communication is already there all I have to do is catch whatever it is on the deployment server that generates that name and throw a query before it pushes it down the pipe.   If anyone has any information on what pushes that down I'd love to know and will share the resulting modifications if it helps ayone.  

    Thanks!  I tihnk having this will make imaging and many other tasks much more functional (Won't change the name of the computer in the manager etc...)

    For ex I have 500 pen drives is it possible to add 500 device-ids to Exception devices

    Attached to this name is a guid and an xml string,  using workflow components, how would i pull the guid and xml based on what value the user selects?

    something like a,  Select GUID where name = 'Application A'

    Ok, so I am trying to install site services on a new site server. I have set up a site server before but I have not set one up since upgrading to 7.5 sp1 and I was just wondering if there were any changes to the order I should install the services? I want to install task, NBS, and package services on the new site server and I cant seem to find a straight forward guide on how to do it.

    Could someone please point me to a good guide/walkthrough on what to do so I can make sure that I am doing this correctly and dont have to repeat a lot of work.

    I am running 7.5 HF6 and have a copy file task that fails on random PCs.  I haven't been able to find exactly what it is that is causing the issue.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the SMA and the plug-ins but still have the issue.  Here is what I am seeing in the logs when the copy file fails:
