    The software is not backing up the image of the client .
    Tried installing all the required drivers. Still no luck.

    The client machine restarts in winPE environment and enters command prompt says "Polling for bound server" and keeps on going for a long time. 

    Meanwhile the console reports "Client timed out" and task gets failed.

     

    Client : HP prolink server , with Broadcom Netxtreme 2 Quad Ethernet.

    Console Server : Dell Optiplex 7010 

    OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition both systems.

    I have downloaded the the Ghost Solution Suite trial. I received the email to activate it ,but it does not have an attachment.

    It says about activation code and an image is seen as in *****2268.slf

    There is no zip or any other file forms.

    I am stuck as I cannot use the product after the installation. It need activation.

    On NS Console our one PS server status is showing Warning instead OK.

    Also the clients which is taking packes from this server is also not able to take any package or no any software is installing on the client system.

    1) What we have to do for showing Warning

    I need full acess to the compliance reports outside of the altiris console for more advanced reporting purposes. I want to run (copies of) them in Sql Server Management Studio and make adjustments where needed. Do I have to attempt reverse engineering the console reports or has someone already done it and can provide the sql for me?

    Hello all,

    Can someone confirm for me the best practice method for deleting software packages and/or releases?  I have a colleague that deleted right from Manage, Software -> Software products but cancelled the operation during the process.  My feeling is that it was not completely removed.  I checked in the vRM_Package_Item table and the object still exists.  It also still exists in Manage, All Resources, Default, All Resources, Package.

    So first off, what is the proper method to delete a software package/release?

    Second, how can I verify the package was completely deleted from the console?

    We are planning a migration from Windows XP to Windows 7 Pro for a customer. They have 80 remote locations with
    10 machines at each of these locations to be migrated. We have planned to have package/task service installed
    on each of these 80 servers so that they can deploy the iamges locally in their respective LANs.
    The only issue is that the WAN bandwidth at each location is 256 kbps and image size is about 15 GB. Now, by
    default, the package servers will sync packages with the NS once the package services are running and deployment
    plug-ins are in place.
    Is there a way to stop this synchronization? We plan to send optical media containing the image files to each of
    the locations, where they can be copied to the default path from where they can be executed. Is this possible to
    achieve?

    I have a customer that has 8 different locations world wide that will use Service Desk.

    The Server is installed in Istanbul (UTC +2 with daylight saving). Users in the IT located in South Africa log changes for different location this means they have to workout the time in the location the change will happen.

    Is there a way to log changed as UCT time only?

    I am getting into image automation by using jobs/tasks . If I try to deploy the Windows 7 x64 image and include deployanywhere drivers I consistently receive error 183 in the details of my failed image job. If I uncheck deployanywhere the image goes through successfully; of course without any drivers. So DA must be the cause of my 183 error and I have no idea what exactly is causing this 183 error and how to remediate it. As of August 2014 we are using 7.5 SP1.

    Below is a copy of the message I am consistently receiving:

    ErrorMessage: Exception has occured in File Tcube_ClientImageDeploy.cpp at Line No 1208. Type of exception is ClientImageDeployException. Error Description is Child Process returned an error. The exit code from process is 3. Value of Windows error code = 183 and message is Cannot create a file when that file already exists.

    Just looking to see what everyone else is using with regards to PC profiles and capturing all the setting and users's files to move to other computers. We currently use PCT 7.5 with Altiris 7.5 but we use a capture script to run the PCT to capture because the one built into Altiris jobs takes forever to capture. Is there another tool that people use? Just curious.

    I was looking to remove a number of out of the box preboot drivers under Driver Database Management and leave drivers that only pertain to the Dell Optiplex/Latitude models I deal with. Removing any drivers, will have impact on anything else but WINPE and Linux PE? Myself and my Administrator are not sure if these drivers may affect anything else in Altiris we may not be aware of. We are running 7.5 SP1.

    I am new to IT Analytics and not familiar with SQL at all.  I have SQL off box in a cluster that didn't have Analysis services installed.  I was told by my DBA that Analysis services can only be installed during initial installation and would need to have its own instance. So now I have my CMDB on one server with Reporting installed, as well as Analysis & Reporting services installed on another server. Not sure if it matters if I need to use the Reporting server where the CMDB resides or if I can use the other box that has both installed together.

    I have installed CMS 7.5 HF 3 or 4 I can't remember off the top of my head, not sure if I'm ready to upgrade to SP1 yet. On the IT Analytics Symantec CMDB settings page is showing me a warning:

    "IT Analytics Client Server Management pack has been found to be in an incomplete state.  It is recommended that you click the Update Dependencies button below to attempt to restore the pack to a valid working state.  If the problem presists please check the log file for more details."

    When I did the update dependencies I get the following error in the log file:

    System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (.Net SqlClient Data Provider): Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server [2].

Server is not found or not accessible. Check if instance name is correct and if SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.

    I was able to create the IT Analytics database on the Analysis server, but wasn't getting any cubes available to install.

    Any help in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

    We are working on rolling out ServiceDesk 7.5 SP1.

    Our organization doesn't see the benefit in using the Impact\Urgency matrix to calculate the Priority level or fully utilizing the SLA processes because they want me to make Incident Management act like we had in Altiris Helpdesk where whatever Priority Level is selected, I had Incident Rules to set the ticket Due Dates. As a result we are only using the Resolution Milestone/Late Escalation in setting up the SLA Levels. That works OK in Incident Management but there is a kicker to the story.

    They want to completely separate "Incidents" from "Requests" so I had to build a separate Request Management system for this that doesn't utilize Incident Management at all. The problem with this is I'm not sure how I can easily create entries into the SLAProcess table for these custom requests. What I'm doing for the requests is setting the Due Date in the Task setup of the Dialog Workflow components which writes the request Due Dates to the DueDate column in the Task table. That works fine but ...

    The problem I'm running into is reporting when trying to use the report builder inside of ServiceDesk to create a report similar to the Task Viewer report where it shows a user all Incidents and Requests where they are assigned to a task. I have to have a separate Due Date column for Incidents (pulling the LateDate from the SLA Process) and a separate Due Date column for Requests (pulling the DueDate from the Tasks). It works but I'd like just one Due Date column.

    Is there an easy way to have the custom request processes write to the SLAProcess table so I can use that as the definitive source for Due Dates? I tried using the Set SLA component but have kept running into errors trying to get that to work properly. Any other ideas you might have are welcome too!
