    We are currently in process of setting an image job that would boot a machine to Automation then Create Image, then it will boot a machine to Production.

    However, the Create Image Task is currently failing with below error message:

    ErrorMessage: The Exception have occured in Client Imaging Task. Exception has occured in File SMPPackage.cpp at Line No 222. Type of exception is GeneralError. Error is callDSPSInfoOperationService()have failed. Return XML is =. Error from HttpGet = HTTP Request Failed Unknown error 0xFFFFFFFF. Error Description is utilCSMPPackagecallDSPSInfoOperationService. Value of Windows error code = 183 and message is Cannot create a file when that file already exists.

    I did some research and got below link which confirms that this is a known issue and Symantec is yet working on it:

    It would be great if any body might have got any idea or reference to fix this.

    Since the upgrade to 7.5 SP1 multiple problems have arose, but this is the first one I've found with Software Management. Has anyone else noticed that when they enter a unique name in the 'Display Name' field under the 'Policy Settings' tab within the policy that the unique name is not displayed like it should be under the agent once the policy is targeting the endpoint?

    I have a problem with sites and APIPA addresses when attempting to deploy a new server.  The environment is ITMS v7.5 HF6 with 30 site servers for our various geographic locations.  Each site server is configured with DHCP to issue addresses to new computers in thier respective locations (there are valid reasons why we don't use IPHelper entries in the firewalls/routers so don't go there).  The new servers PXE boot into the WinPE4 automation client without any problems.  But this is where my problem starts.

    Most of our new computers have multiple NICs with only one configured into an imaging network where it gets a valid DHCP address from the local site server.  The rest of the NICs get APIPA addresses when they fail to obtain a DHCP address.  This is expected and works as designed.  No DHCP for those other NICs again with valid reasons for the configuration.  The problem is the PECTAgent registers with the SMP console using one of the APIPA addresses instead of the issued DHCP address.  Since the APIPA networks are not assigned to the site of the new server, the PECTAgent picks a site server at random (or by whatever algorithm is used) for its task server.  This ends up causing the ghost task to fail because the PECTAgent cannot communicate with the chosen site/task server due to firewall restrictions (again, this cannot be changed).  If we assign the APIPA networks of the new computer into the appropriate site, the ghost task runs without incident.

    My question is: how do I get the PECTAgent to register consistently with the SMP console using the issued DHCP address and not one of the APIPA addresses?  And disabling the extra NICs is not an option.

    Most of the Information synces up but for some reason emloyeeNumber will not sync. 

    I can open AD Explorer and log in to AD with application identity and see it fine.   

    Would also like to have roomNumber as an option.

    I was wondering if anyone has this issue. Whenever our users type in these symbols < or > ....they can't submit the incident. It gives them an error message. Is there a setting in the Multiline Textbox that i can change to stop this from happening?

    Hi all,

    We just received our new Lenovo T440 laptops and we are having a hard time getting them to successfully image.

    So far we have created/compiled the e1000e.ko file for the NIC/PXE portion of the boot process. - Works great

    The laptop will bring down the image via a Linux x86 process.

    Once the download gets to 100% we immediately get a message stating "The File Could not be opened", after digging into some of the .log's I narrowed it down to the Linux piece not being able to see the local SSD.

    I am pulling my hair out as to how to create an AHCI.ko file to "hopefully" resolve this issue - No luck - No experience doing this either.

    I see a few articles out there where some of you folks have created AHCI.ko files for older IRST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) versions.  Would someone happen to have a newer AHCI.ko file for the 6.9.9269 (DS 6.9 sp4)/Linux Distro environment?  Or at least point me in the right direction?  I am by no means a Linux expert so I may be a bit slow to understand indepth Linux topics. :)

    A few questions/facts:

    Does DS 6.9 SP6 resolve this issue?  I know there is a new Linux distro that comes with it (6.9.9470).  Right now this isn't an option for us - Too long to explain in a forum thread but if the case can be made....perhaps.

    Our deploy image job deletes the OEM partion and the Automation partition

    I´m importing user resources from Microsoft Active Directory Import.  Using the default mappings the users were created but the username created is the displayName ad variable. For example the username created is not but David Dell Gosselin as result.

    I cant find the way to change it in order to the username appears as domain account or EmployeID not the displayname.

    That would be very useful when massive uploading CI´s to Altiris CMDB.

    Any Ideas?

    I have been continually having this error message occur indescriminately on servers that I have installed the Altiris agent.  I have checked out all the Symantec Articles and blogged fixes with no solution.


    So I did some investigation...God Love SysInternal tools. I have windows 2008 r2 SP1 servers and I found that in the registry key value "MachineGuid" was missing from

    HKLM\software\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Plugin Objects\Agents\SMFAgent

    It was however in HKLM\software\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Plugin Objects\Agents\InvAgent.

    So just duplicate the value in HKLM\software\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Plugin Objects\Agents\SMFAgent and then restart the Altiris agent.


    Hope this helps someone else.

    i have tons of false positive. If a PDF is opened in Chrome, pop up appears on my users. When a PDF is open and download, pop up alerts appear too.

    Has anybody successfully update the SD workflow to correct Incident(s) with missing assignments aka Orphaned Tickets.

    I know there are solutions in the connect community to close orphan tickets, but I was looking for a solution that would fix tickets with missing assignements.

    I am in need of assistance.  I am attempting to use Connector Solution to pull some data from an LDAP data source.  The data we are trying to pull is the lastlogon field.  I've never actually used Connector Solution in this has been used extensively in our environment to import .csv files, but never LDAP and never using the pre-processing.  On to my questions:

    Question #1:

    Is there a better way to pull this data into Altiris from AD?


    Question #2:

    In order for the lastLogon field to be useful, the formula contained in the following article needs to be used to convert the data into date/time.

    I would prefer to do this on the way into the database so that I don't have to parse it in every report that I want to use the data in.

     Does anybody know how to do this?  Can you please help me?


    Question #3:

    Once the data has been converted into a usable format, how do I then import the data and associate it with the appropriate computer record?  I guess there needs to be a key that matches between the two records, but I'm not sure how to pull this from the LDAP source.  Once it gets pulled from the LDAP source, I assume I can just designate it as the lookup key in the import/export rule.

    We are having a hard time getting users to reboot their computers after each patch cycle hence we are looking settings / options where by we can force reboot of the computers after the patch gets installed. We would like to provide users with some limited time to postpone the reboot (3 times) OR for a duration 2 days, is there any way / method we can achieve this , any help, suggestions, guidance would be greatly appreciated.
