    Good afternoon everyone.  I have this request that came across my desk and not sure how to construct a Detection Rule.

     

    Systems that do not have Adobe Reader XI (11.0.6).  These can be systems with no Reader or a older version.  Run a install to bring those current BUT

    If Adobe Acroabt is already installed to not try to install Reader.

     

    Any ideas?

    My organization is currently using Motorola Symbol Integrated Handheld scanners for use with Altiris Barcode Solution.  The scanners we have are getting old and are up for replacement.  We have reviewed the list of Integrated devices on Symantec's list, but wanted to find out if anyone had any suggestions or feedback on any of the models listed.  We are using the scanners primarily for receiving and annual physical inventory, but may expand the use if we can get a scanner that performs a bit better than the model we are currently using.

     

    Could you please let us know if you are using Barcode Solution and which scanner you are using in your environment?

    Hi there,

     

    Is there anyway to clean up orpaned objects on child NS servers.  We have had some issue where our parent server has replicated down filters and folders that shouldn't be replciated.  We deleted the on he pareent but they still show up as replicated items on the child.  We can't do anything with them.  They make the console a mess.

    We are on 7.1 rollup 8.

    I do remember something about exporting the objects xml and the changing something in the xml and re-importing it to break its replication association and this allows you to delete from the child NS.

     

    Does anyone know how to do this?

    Ok so I know that this makes sense and is working how expected.

    I have a job that runs and after X amount of time it then terminates. Ok so working... Only thing is that I would like to know if there is a way to list the item as Success instead of Failure in the Altiris agent. If not no biggie but curious.

     

    so what we are doing is popping up a reboot message for the user. if they click OK it will force a reboot. If they leave it up it will terminate after 20hrs then run again afterwards. the point of it is simple. With this popup running, nothing else in Altiris will deploy or run as this job is "In Progress" which is fine. Anything new will queue up and the terminate after will then allow the rest to process then the reboot reminder will come back up.

    Plus sometimes they move the reboot reminder off the screen. It will close then pop back up in the middle of the screen.

    Challenge we have is XP EOL. We are doing this for only XP. Since the Altiris Patch agent will not popup the reminder anymore I am trying to come up with the best approach. 

    We cannot force a reboot as a scientist maybe doing a run which has been running for a few weeks... auto reboot would most likely put me looking for employment elsewhere!!! cheeky

    We are using Altiris 7.5, I had to create a new image due to new agent and plug-ins. My image is built off of a VM. I made a mistake on my create image job; I put in a reboot task before the prepare for image task. Ran the job before I noticed the mistake. I stopped the job, removed it from the job from the vm, removed the reboot to task. Now I have the job setup correctly:

    1. prepare for image capture

    2. create image

    3. reboot to production

    Trying to re-run the job in the correct order, but the old reboot to task still runs no matter what!!! The job was stopped and removed from the vm, I even removed the vm workstation name from the console so the vm can re-establish itself with the server. The task still runs. Where/how is the task stuck in the vm? Is there a file in Windows under Altiris Agent\TaskManagemnt somewhere?

    We are getting below errors and I used a query to identify the Task. It was a Detection Check of the policy which is throwing the error. We are using the detection check against a RegKey. Becuase this regkey ensure the installation success of the software we push.

    If you notice, non of the x64.inf files are being imported.  Ive attempted this with two different systems (HP Probook 640 and Dell Latititude 6440, both are using intel NIC's)

    These drivers do import when adding them to boot disk creator.

    Hello Everyone,

     

    I've been racking my brain all day trying to figure out why a certain command line will not work for ghost.  

    What I'mempting to create is a WINPE 4.0 disk which will have a batch file that allows little to no interaction past a double click to re-image a users computer.  Here's what i have so far:

    What's happening is that the -BATCH command is causing the program to open then close almost instantly.  If i take that command completely out I'mt with having to interact with the prompts (partitions correct and proceed.)  The -BATCH command is the only command in the script that is causing the issues.  I have gone flag by flag and every other command works (except for the -sure command, i believe that is suppose to stop that partition question) and found that -BATCH is the culprit that causes the entire ghost console to open for a quick second than shutdown almost immediately after opening.  

     

    Also I'mging from a partitioned travel hard drive. The winpe, all the portable apps, and ghost are on one partition and the images are on another.  Like i stated before i can get this to work ONLY if the -BATCH switch isn't included, but that's the main part of the automation.

     

    What am i doing wrong in this sequence, everything works except for the main part which is needed for an almost complete NO TOUCH imaging process.

    I have a process that generates a report, when I use the Excel Write component, it creates an Excel file, but the output is messy (the text is left-justified in some parts and right-justified in others, the columns aren't expanded properly etc.)

    Is there a way to create an Excel document with a pre-formatted table, then write the data there within a Workflow process?  I was told it might be possible be first reading in the existing Excel file, then using an Excel generator, but I'm not sure how this works.

    I am working on resolving an issue of blacklisted clients in which part of it entails removing clients from the console and allow them to repopulate.  Once they are removed from the console and the check back in and get a new GUID, they are no longer blacklisted.  Instead of doing this manually, I would like to use the filter I have set up to delete them automatically and to keep the 'agentblacklist' table cleared out.  Does anyone have any ideas on how I might go about doing this from within the console if possible?

    Im trying to create image in altiris 6.9 sp6 deployment console but after reboot I can see booting menu and is stooping on ds winpe4.0 pre-automation enviroment(PXE boot)- window
    replaying with error
    Restarting dhcp clientservice retry 1
    Restarting dhcp clientservice retry 2
    .etc
    and then is restarting 

    when I removed job from deployment console and computer
    pickup right boot menu 
    went without error into next step altiris dagent services
    but still couldnt drag and drop job in deployment console, because computer is restarting
    and stop on error restarting dhcp client service 

    only one way how i could create image was removed computer from deployment console
    after
    reboot press f8 and pick boot menu
    wait until altiris dagent services window will show up

    exit from this winodow altiris dagent services

    open again administrator ds winpe4.0 pre-automation enviroment(PXE boot)
    go to share drive 

    \\ghost\ghost64.exe and run ghost

    \\rdeploy\windows\x64\rdeploy.exe

    dosent work because when specified name of image file and click next or finish 

    I have error

    the EFI variable could not be read

    1 A form which will create a ticket but should assign a custom ticket Number like RQ0001 and later it can be tracked with this ticket number.

    2. It should have a SLA and auto calculate priority

    3. There will be custom categories from which we will select the category of the request

    4. Move to next level based on approvals or send for approvals.

    5. Reject the request if no approval received.

    is it possible in Symantec Servicedesk 7.5 sp1.

    This workflow will be used to create request for Software/Hardware

    Hello All,

         Yesterday we noticed an error when we launch Symantec Installation Manager that http://www.solutionsam.com/solutions/pl/symantec_v2.pl.xml.zip not being a valid listing.  I haven't received this error in the past.  Options are to try again, choose different listing or use cached. We contacted Symantec support and they asked us to check our internet settings on the server as that usually means you can't get to the internet.  But the internet is fine and we have made no network changes on our firewall.  I found an article that suggest trying to hit the URL above from a web browser. On the server I receive a page not found error.  I tried on other systems outside our network and get the same page not found error.  Could it be solutionsam server is having issues?  Anyone else having trouble reaching this site?  Thanks for the help as always.

    Hello All,

     

         Management is asking for me to pull a report on a old user to see what laptop they used.  The user is no longer with us and i'm not sure if the laptop is on Altiris any longer but it was for some time.  Is it possible to pull a report on historical information to see what laptop a user logged on to?  If so please let me know what report would be best or if a custom report is needed please let me know how to run as I've never ran a report other then the standard ones installed.  Thanks for the help.
