Looking for a linux driver for Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 0C). I need this for a new thinclient HP T620. A 'LSPCI -n' gives 10ec:8168 (rev 0c). The DS 6.9 buildin realtek drivers do not work; so I guess I need an updated driver (r8169.ko ?).

    I need this driver for linuxPE (x86) in DS 6.9 SP5 (kernel 2.6.27.7) or DS 6.9 SP6 (kernel 2.6.32-358.el6.i686)

I would be gratefull if somebody could help me with this.

    regards

    Hi there,

I just want to know if Altiris 6.8 Build 282 SP1 can be installed on Windows 2008. I will manage only Windows XP devices, not Windows 7 or any other OS.

  • 04/03/14--04:55: Push and Pull fails for Windows 7 (chan 3968102)
  • Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

    Hello all,

I am having trouble with installing the 7.5 HF4 SMA onto a Windows 7 machine.

The SMP is in a domain and running HTTPS.

The Windows 7 machine is in a workgroup, has its firewalls disabled, sharing wizard disabled, and has the SSL cert installed into its trusted root.

The Windows 7 machine can successfully UNC to the SMP; however, the SMP cannot UNC to the Windows 7 machine as it always gets accessed denied.

    Push fails because of this.

The Pull fails too; however, I dont see why as my use is a local admin.  The AltirisAgentInstSvc.exe *32 gets loaded but doesnt do anything, altough I have configured the SMA install settings.

Has anyone else run into this annoying situation, as last time I had to join the machine to the domain in order to get it to work; however, I dont want to do that this time as I need to demonstarte DS 7.5's domain join action via a system configuration job.

I have not tried manually running AeXNSC.exe yet, as I would rather get the push and pull fixed.

  • 04/03/14--05:51: Deploying SWV app questions ? (chan 3968102)
  • Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

Hi, just trying to figure out the best way to deploy a SWV layer and agent without user/tech interaction.

I have found the SWV agent will not install if  the PC needs a reboot (due to patching etc), so I would have to check that before starting. Then when the agent it installs it will need a reboot before the layer is deployed/imported. After reboot I can then deploy the application layer.

Would a policy be the best option for this or a quick task ? How would I detect if it needs reboot ? anyone got anything similar ?

    Any help appreciated.

  • 04/03/14--09:56: Ghost Folder on X:drive (chan 3968102)
  • Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

How does the ghost folder get copied to the X: drive. I have different boot.wim files that I use, but the vista one is the only that gets the ghost folder pushed to it from the pxe boot. I can build the folder in the wim file, but this increases the size of the .wim file and I am trying to keep it small as possible. Ghost doesn't have the folder in its .wim file, but the folder is present on the X: drive once the machine is net booted from the vista 2.0 pe. I tried different copy commands, but to no avail. I have a win7 PE with the drivers, but the only way to get it to boot into the console is to include the start.bat, ghost32, ngctw32, and other files into the wim file. It is there something i am missing? The system will push the ghost folder to vistaPE, but not win7.

Since the upgrade from 7.1 to 7.5 might have messed up the entire server, are there any documents and/or tips to uninstall the software and start over? I want to make sure I can remove EVERYTHING and then start fresh from a clean installation without rebuilding the server from scratch.

It appears we are having a LOT of issues and things are missing that should be there.  The server just isn't acting right.  I don't think the upgrade went well.

We are a University with mostly laptop computers issued to faculty and staff. We have a Layer 3 network, with each each floor in each build having it's own DHCP scope. We also have a layer 3 wireless network with each building having it's own DHCP scope.

As users move between wired and wireless and building to building, they get new IP's from the DHCP servers. (This is works as advertised). The problem is our Help Desk can't remote into the laptops during Help Desk Calls because Altiris can't find the active IP address.

Is there a way to better configure Altiris to fing the active IP, FQDN, or MAC address for every PC.

    DS 6.9 SP6 - clean install.  WinPE x64.  Ghost64.exe version is 12.0.0.4570

I have a Windows 7 ghost image that I'm trying to use a regular "Distribute Disk Image" task to deploy.  The image has three partitions: System,OS and Data.

If I use the task to deploy that image the second partition (when W7 is installed) seems to be marked as dirty or damaged.  Subsequent tasks can't write to that partition and after reboot the OS fails to load.  The System and Data partitions seem fine.

If I check diskpart from within WinPE after the image is deployed then I can see the D: drive is listed as RAW.

If I manually run ghost64.exe it warns me "The following drives were not unmounted cleanly: D:".  If I go ahead despite its warning I can deploy the image and all three partitions successfully.  At this point the OS will boot and there is no sign of problems with that partition - no check disk repair etc.

I have another image W7 with a more conventional System and OS partition setup.  This deploys just fine with the same task.

Has anyone else seen this?  I'm pretty sure the image is ok.

    Hello,

We are facing an issue where a software update task is running every 15 minutes on many machines but we are unable to find any details about the task/  policy. Checked the vItem table and there is no information about the policy with GUID {A1939DC8-DA4A-4E46-9629-0500C2383ECA} . It appears to be initiated by the SoftwareUpdateAgent. We do not use Altiris patching and Windows System Assessment Scan is the only ploicy related to patching which runs at 1200 Hrs daily.

Log content similar to the one mentioned below is generated every 15 minutes.

Could you please help us in identifying this task and taking necessary steps to stop it if it is not normal? Please let me know if you need more information. Thanks in advance.

Is it in Jobs & Tasks, the script task??

    Is it in D:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris ASDK\Help/asdk7.5.chm ???

    How to use it.

I am very much new to Altiris & its solutions.

    Please help me.

Can anyone point me to where the install logs are kept (that are recorded during installation) for ITMS 7.5? Or is everything kept right in Altiris Log Viewer?

    Thanks

    Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

    Dear All,

I am trying to set up the IT Analytics Pack for Symantec ServiceDesk and having a bit of trouble.

When I go to the SIM, I see that the IT Analytics Pack for SD is not configured properly and I also see that the cubes are not in the Console at all. Not one.

When I run the Re-configuration, it fails with the following message in the a.log for that execution:

    Invalid object name 'ProcessManager.dbo.ImIncidentTicket'.

From this, I reckon that the SIM seems to expect that the ProcessManager is on the same SQL Server as the SMP's database. Interestingly, at this customer, that this is not the case. Well, thinking about it, I would not expect the ProcessManager database to be on the same server as the Symantec_CMDB - each application hammers its database and we like to keep Databases as separate as possible.

So... in SIM, how do I tell it that the ProcessManager is on a different server, so that my Cubes can be configured, please?

    Kindest regards,

    QuietLeni

There are a few users having issues with adding justification comments while reassigning tickets to a different group or user. We do not make the justification required, but they still use the text box. They will open the ticket, and click Reassign Incident under the Smart Tasks actions. Then, they enter the comments in the justification text box and search for the user/group they want to reassign the ticket. They select the reassign button and click confirm. It usually works, but every now and again the comments will disappear. We have it set so if no one enters any comments, it will just say 'not found'. When their comments disappear, it is replaced with the 'not found' message.

I've been unable to duplicate the issue, but curious if anyone has seen this before.

Below is a link to the only article that even closely resembles my issue, but we don't hit edit after adding the comments.

    http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag...

I went ahead and changed the workflow, but still had the same issues.

    Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

Ok so XP EOL is upon us in 3 days...

We will be getting XP patches from Microsoft for 1 year (paid subscription) and have figured out our best approach at deploying these patches via SWD.

This is utilizing dynamic filters, patch files into catalog and policies. I plan on documenting this entire thing into an article to post up here for anyone else that wishes to utilize this method but need help with one part.

So currently we popup an annoying message every 2hrs stating reboot pending. We utilize this out of the patch policy but this will no longer work for XP. I am going to package an exe with Flexera Admin Studio 2013 soon and will target machines that need a reboot for this.

There is a report that someone was kind enough to help with that has the sql code but I think it targets where patch management was utilized. Anyone know of a way to report on machines requiring a reboot?

This works for our machines in prod but for our test environment I setup 2 patches (1 ie and 1 xp os) and deployed them. Havent rebooted yet and the code doesnt say the machine needs a reboot.

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/que...

I can create a custom inventory if there is a place in the registry that will state this info. Any ideas greatly appreciated???

    Oui, j'ai besoin d'une solution

    Hello -

I have a monitoring workflow that runs nightly to send selected users email reminders about their upcoming password expirations based on critieria (such as when their password will expire, etc...).  The workflow has been running fine for the last year or so and the Workflow system has not recently been changed.  Lately, however, I've encountered issues where the workflow will not exit properly (either successfully or with an error), resulting in situations where some of the users receive the same email message over and over until I manually restart IIS.

I've been able to reproduce the error using the Workflow debugger and I think the issue is being caused by resource (i.e. memory) constraints on the Workflow system itself.  The server meets the Workflow specifications, but because the workflow has to loop through users in our active directory (using the ADUserInfo data type to be able to evaluate the criteria), and because the number of users in our active directory has been steadily increasing, I think the workflow has simply reached a point where it can't process the volume of data.  What leads me to believe this is that when I run the workflow through in the debugger, it loops through a few of the users, but then upon reaching the Get User Details component for the nth time, rather than exit that component via the component's Error outcome, the workflow kicks over to it's Critical Errors model and then stops at the Start component (even when I simplified the Critical Errors model to have only a Start and an End component).  It seems to me that because the workflow is out of memory, it cannot even finish the Critical Errors model and so eventually the scheduler tries to re-run it, producing the same result (and causing some users to receive the email over and over).

I've come up with a potential solution, i.e. the workflow has consistently exited successfully in the debugger and now once in production (but I'll be happier after it runs for a week or so without error).  Namely, I added the "Remove Data" component at the end of each loop through active directory using the Get User Details component, so once the workflow loop has evaluated the user details against the criteria and taken whatever action(s) specified, the workflow discards the ADUserInfo data and then gets the details on the next user.

My question is, has anyone else encountered memory-related Workflow issues similar to this?  If so, what approach did you take to resolving the issues?  Also, do you use the "Remove Data" component in your workflows?  Does it help in terms of memory management or is it intended to help?  Lastly, in terms of memory management, are there good Workflow practices to follow to try to avoid memory-related issues, e.g. Workflow or project-related configuration settings, Workflow components to use, etc...?  Any/all thoughts/insights are greatly appreciated.

    Tnx, Tom

    Good Morning,

We are having an issue with Service Desk Email monitoring.  Recently we enabled our Email notification service in Service Desk and now we are getting a lot of EM-###### stating that our email security appliance is detecting that our current GUEST USER EMAIL which is GUEST@SYMANTEC.COM is not recognizable.  So my question is how do I change this account to a Company email account.  We are using Service Desk 7.1.

ANy solutions would be greatly appreciated.
